Mold top centering
The centering of the upper part of the mold ensures a precise fit between the pressure pieces and the respective honeycombs. To achieve this, a centering pin is attached to the upper part of the mold, which dips into a sleeve on the lower part of the mold when the mold is closed. As a result, the upper part of the mold is positively centered in relation to the lower part of the mold even before the pressure pads dip into the honeycombs. This ensures that the thrust pieces are optimally immersed in the lower part of the mold and reduces wear on the mold and thrust pieces. In addition, the centering during the jogging process ensures that the mold and pressure pads do not come into close contact with each other. This also reduces wear.
The centering pin is very durable and can be easily replaced, just like the sleeve.
We recommend centering in particular for small mold protrusions, i.e. when there is very little difference between the brick and mold height and thus no die guidance is possible in the mold honeycomb. It protects die chamfers of all types, reduces one-sided or two-sided burrs on the brick, and enables less die play.
